Job overview

The Portsmouth Grammar School has a vacancy for a qualified and enthusiastic netball coach to become part of a well-respected netball coaching team within the Senior School. 

During term time, you will coach netball one afternoon during the school day (1:50-3:50pm) and in at least one after-school club (4-6pm) and also lead school teams at weekend fixtures. We can offer some adaptability on days and times, but you will be required to work with some flexibility, including evenings and Saturdays, to support the school’s busy sporting calendar. Fixtures take place both at our PGS sports ground in Hilsea, Portsmouth, and across the region at other schools on our fixtures list.   

We are looking for a candidate qualified to Level 1 and/or Level 2, who has the enthusiasm and patience to work with young athletes. You will have a thorough knowledge of the coaching techniques required to plan, deliver and evaluate sessions against agreed learning outcomes, and be able to stretch talented and/or novice netball players for a squad between the ages of 11 and 18.

A DBS check at enhanced level will be required.

ISI Report 2022

During an ISI Inspection in late 2022 both the achievement of the pupils, including their academic development and the personal development of the pupils were found to be excellent - the highest possible classification. The Inspection also looked at the School’s compliance with the regulatory standards and requirements. PGS met all the standards required.
