Working as an SEN Teacher
Working as a Special Educational Needs Teacher is a challenging role, but a hugely rewarding one. The role of a Teacher in catering for the needs of individual students is vital to their progression through education. The teaching experiences you will gain can be some of the most memorable and gratifying of your career.
Whether you are a NQT looking to progress further to your QTS or are already qualified and looking for a more challenging role, we are able to help. Positions are flexible to your needs and can be fit around current commitments.
There will be aspects of reading and writing difficulties, the ability to understand certain things, behaviour issues or difficulty with concentration. In some cases physical ability will be affected as well and personal care may be involved. The SEN needs we work with most commonly involve Autism, Multiple Learning Difficulties and Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties.
We are currently working with a number of schools on a Supply basis within the Nottinghamshire area, covering needs such as ASD, SEMH & PMLD. There are opportunities within Good and Outstanding schools, each with their own individual requirements.
You will need to be able to plan lessons and have strong organisational skills, be adaptable to situations that can change quickly. Have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively and be able to manage challenging behaviour in order to provide a focused learning environment.
We require a QTS / NQT qualification and will need to have a school based reference within the last 2 years. In addition you will need previous experience of assisting children within an SEN environment.
It would also be beneficial to the role if you have experience of Makaton, PECS or have completed a Team Teach course.
Why work for ABC?

You will have a dedicated consultant working for your area with detailed knowledge of local schools and we are the only agency in the area to be partnered with TES.
What to do next:
Candidates will be required to attend a face to face interview to register; we will need to gain two references either academic or professional and hold an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure (or be prepared to allow us to process one for you).
