Job overview

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and adaptable Nursery Assistant who would enjoy playing a supportive role, nurturing pupils’ development within our Nursery, which is part of our thriving Pre-Prep Department. This permanent post is suited to an experienced practitioner, though we will consider applications from exceptional candidates. The position is either for an immediate start in our Trinity Term, or in September 2024, depending on circumstances.

Please note that it is essential that candidates should be qualified to Early Years Educator Level 3 or above in Childcare, with experience of the EYFS, and preferably have a Montessori qualification.

During the morning work cycle, the Nursery Assistant helps to set the tone of the Nursery, supporting the children to make their choice of activity, maintaining the environment, and supporting the children’s interactions with their peers. The Nursery Assistant should have excellent English communication skills, extending and developing the children's fascination in the oral language, whilst being able to document these encounters between peers, by completing written observations. In the afternoon, the children spend more time in our dedicated outside space, with the Nursery Assistant helping to scaffold their interactions and development of language.

We are looking for someone who:

·        is caring and thrives in nurturing positive relationships with the children through their sound knowledge of child development.

·        has a positive mindset and a ‘can-do’ attitude to developing the children's skills and facilitating their personal independence.

·        is a lifelong learner, passionate and reflective about the learning process.

·        is creative and knowledgeable, delivering learning experiences that engage children's interests and stretch their development across the whole curriculum.

Christ Church Cathedral School is situated in the centre of the beautiful and historic University City of Oxford.
