Haut-Lac international bilingual school   (Switzerland) is looking for a Nursery Manager starting January 2022. Our nursery section located in Vevey  (Geneva Lake area) has 40 children (18 months to 4 years old) and 10 educators.

As Nursery Manager, you’ll play a key role in helping recruit, support and mentor staff members in the team. With your team, you’ll ensure that all children attending the nursery are kept safe and enjoy play experiences that are appropriate for their age and development.

 One of your main roles as manager will be to manage the day-to-day running of the nursery effectively making sure that all legislation is complied with. This includes registration with regulatory bodies, special needs, child protection, health and safety, and food safety. 

The Nursery Manager must also make sure that all Haut-Lac policies and procedures are adhered to. 

 

Key responsibilities  

As Nursery Manager, you will be working closely with children and their families, building human connections and seeing the children develop. Here are some of the responsibilities you can expect to have in the role:

  • Oversee the planning and delivery of the programmes which support learning and development
  • Ensure that all children are making progress in their learning and development and that appropriate records are maintained to track this
  • Build and encourage good working relationships with colleagues, parents/carers and other family members
  • Plan and run regular staff meetings
  • Carry out annual staff reviews
  • Train and mentor staff at all levels (including apprentices)
  • Create and manage the schedule for staff deployment 
  • Maintain high standards in line with local regulation and directives
  • Maintain petty cash systems
  • Manage resources and request new or replacement items, as necessary
  • Manage the occupancy of places to ensure optimisation in collaboration with the admissions office
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date occupancy records to facilitate admissions
  • Keep abreast of current developments in childcare and educational policies and practices
  • Liaise with the supervisory authorities

 To be eligible for this job you must be bilingual French/ English have at least 5 years' experience as a Nursery Manager, plus one of the qualifications below:  

  • Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce
  • Foundation degree or HND in an Early Years related subject
  • Degree in Early Years, childcare, child development or related subject

The Nursery Manager will be expected to work directly with the children in the nursery as part of the role.

Modern facilities at the secondary campus include specialist IT rooms and Computer Aided Design (CAD) technology linked to a laser cutter and plastic former in the tech lab. Saint-Légier-La Chiésaz is located in the canton of Vaud, and has a total population of approximately 5,000.
