As one of the highest performing Family of Schools in the North of England, Outwood Grange Academies Trust is transforming the futures of countless young people. You can be part of this unique place, in the historic town of Worksop, with easy access to Nottingham, Lincoln and Sheffield.

You will be required to work across the English curriculum to support students with varying needs in small groups (2 - 4) or in a one to one setting.  Required to start as soon as possible, we are seeking to appoint a committed individual to work as part of a dedicated team of staff.  The successful candidate will effectively support selected students through individually tailored programmes of one to one tuition in English.

The successful applicant will put the needs of young people first, have a passion for learning, excellent interpersonal skills and will be both ICT and emotionally literate. Tutors will be required to prepare their own resources to meet the needs of the students but to also use resources where directed by the Head of Department or the Director of English.

This post will be attractive to individuals wishing to develop their practice in a school where everybody is recognised as a learner. Due to the nature of the position, we are looking for someone who has strong communication skills (both written and verbal).

We are proud that Outwood Academy Portland is rated Outstanding by Ofsted. We are an 11-18 academy based in the large friendly town of Worksop, near Sheffield and Nottingham.

Since joining the Outwood Family in 2012, our students have achieved impressive exam result success.

We have created an educational environment where staff and students constantly strive to improve; where teachers sharpen their skills and expand their repertoires to deliver an outstanding learning experience; and where teachers, classroom assistants, mentors, tutors, inclusion support assistants and students operate as a seamless team. This enables everybody, staff and students, to not only see but also help fulfil the potential in each other. Following its latest visit, Ofsted noted that our ‘teachers and support staff comment positively about the opportunities they have for regular training to develop their skills.’

We believe our success speaks for itself as we are above the national average for the number of students achieving at a Grade 5 or above in English & maths GCSEs. We are also proud to have been awarded Bronze Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.

The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.

We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

If you share our vision, join our family.
