We currently have the following vacancy at St Aldhelm’s Academy, Herbert Avenue, Poole, BH12 4HS – Outdoor Education Lead

We are looking to appoint an experienced and qualified Outdoor Educational Lead to join our Alternative Curriculum at St Aldhelm’s. The position will consist of teaching small groups of students at a variety of outdoor locations, with some teaching in the classroom as well. This is a new and exciting role at our school, with lots of scope and exciting benefits, that you could help to shape! We welcome visits to the school prior to or after applications have been made.

You will be responsible for the management of our on-site Alternative Curriculum Programme and be absolutely committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable students. You will teach across the ability range under the overall direction and guidance of the Principal and those colleagues with senior and delegated leadership responsibility, particularly the subject leader and Head of faculty. We are looking for a candidate with a proven ability to plan and deliver environmental education-based activities to a wide age range of children.

We are looking for someone who is empathetic and compassionate, able to engage with young people and build positive relationships. A resilient personality is a must, as are good communication skills.

The successful candidate will be required to have excellent Maths and English skills – equivalent to GCSE grade C or above. Previous experience teaching in a school setting is beneficial, but coaching children is essential.
