Job overview

Due to the promotion internally of the current postholder we are seeking to recruit an experienced Personal Assistant to join the hard-working administrative team at our school.

The PA to the Headteacher will work in close proximity with the Leadership Team in areas of high confidentiality on a daily basis.  Complete discretion is therefore of the utmost importance.

The successful applicant will offer exceptional secretarial and administrative skills and, whilst experience of working in an educational environment would be desirable, for the right candidate it is not essential.

The postholder will be able to work with initiative and foresight to a very high standard and contribute to the smooth running of the school’s management and administrative functions.  They should possess excellent communication skills in order to present the appropriate image of the school and strong organisational skills and flexibility to meet tight timescales.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37 hours per week/41 weeks per year (term time plus 15 days) and will be paid on Grade 5:12 (£18,212/£18,618 per annum dependent upon length of service; paid in twelve equal instalments of £1,517/£1,551 ).

The weekly hours are expected to be 08.30 to 16.30 Monday to Thursday and 08.30 to 16.00 on Friday.  This includes a 30 minute unpaid break at a time agreed with the Headteacher and/or Office & Admissions Manager.

This is an opportunity for the ideal candidate to join the workforce at a school which provides the very best education for the children in its care. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a high degree of practical skills and competence.

More information can be found in the vacancy booklet.

First established in 1589, Queen Elizabeth’s High School is a grammar school located in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. The school has existed in its current guise as a co-educational grammar school since 1983, when the two single-sex schools merged into a single institution. A state grammar school, Queen Elizabeth’s is academically selective in its admissions but charges no fees for tuition. With around 1200 pupils on roll in a co-educational setting aged 11-18, the school is noticeably larger than most secondary schools, around 150 of these residing in the school sixth form. Queen Elizabeth’s has seen extensive modernisation and development over the years.
