St George’s is an independent boarding and day school with approximately 270 pupils aged from 11-18 years about 45% of whom are boarders (both full and tailored) and with a Sixth Form of approximately 80 pupils. The school operates as an Educational Trust administered by a Board of Governors, is a member of the Girls’ Schools Association (GSA), Boarding Schools Association (BSA), and is ISC accredited.

The objective of the Science Department is to create an atmosphere in which both pupils and staff can achieve their own maximum potential in such a way that encourages learning, stimulates a love for Science, achieves success in examinations and fosters a lasting interest in the subject.

The Science department comprises three full-time and three part-time specialist members of staff and three part-time Science Technicians who are responsible  for helping with the organization and day‐to‐day running of the School laboratories and two preparation rooms.

We are seeking a candidate with relevant experience, preferably in an educational environment; formal qualifications are not essential, but would be an advantage.

It is intended that interviews will be held online on Wednesday 19 or Thursday 20 May, with final round interviews taking place at the School during the week commencing 24 May 2021. Candidates will be asked to undertake a short ‘in-tray’ test to demonstrate the required skills.

About St George's School

St George’s is a girls’ independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11 to 18 years. We are located approximately 25 miles west of central London on a beautiful, leafy 30 acre site, within walking distance of Ascot High Street. We are a welcoming school with a warm sense of community and visitors often comment on the perceptible supportive and cheerful atmosphere.

Most girls join St George's in Year 7; there are around 35 girls in each of the first two years and we keep class sizes deliberately small so that each girl is individually known. An additional class is added at Year 9 with girls joining from 13+ prep schools and girls may also join in the Sixth Form, and occasionally in Year 8 and Year 10.
