Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher of ICT/Computing. They will be able to demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with their department in the development of shared teaching and learning resources that will help to foster the growing ethos of anytime, anywhere learning. It is envisaged that initially at least, their primary responsibility would be with helping in the delivery of some well-established topics to our vibrant KS3 students. Experience of teaching Computer Science at KS4 and/or KS5 would be useful but is not essential. The successful applicant will be able to share their enjoyment with students by employing a range of teaching strategies as an outstanding classroom practitioner – strategies which provide for challenge, motivation and high pupil expectations. The role would be suitable for experienced colleagues or anyone new to the profession.

A willingness to assist in broader and extra-curricular activities both within the Computing Department and in the wider school is essential. All teaching staff also have vital roles as tutors within our vertical tutor system.

This is a part-time (approximately 0.4fte) post. The start date is September 2024.

Judged by Ofsted as Outstanding, Stratford Girls' Grammar School is an extraordinary place to teach in, with high academic standards, a genuine community spirit and a huge level of enthusiasm shown by our students. They are bright, stimulating and keen to learn, and results are outstanding at all levels.

Situated in a pleasant village environment just outside of Stratford-upon-Avon, the school is in a convenient location being only 10 minutes from Junction 15 of the M40 and less than an hour from both Birmingham and Coventry.

As an educational establishment, SGGS embraces all of the finest aspects of academic excellence, and opportunities to ‘make a difference’ to the experience of the students are encouraged.

We are looking for someone to join our highly committed staff team to start in September 2024. They will have:

  • the ability to guide students’ academic and personal development as a tutor.

We can offer you:

  • a friendly, supportive and inclusive ethos
  • students who are willing to learn
  • an excellent professional development programme with a comprehensive induction programme for all, including ECTs
  • a great chance to make a difference to young people's lives.
  • friendly, supportive, highly professional colleagues committed to the provision of high-quality education.

This school is committed to safeguarding, equality of opportunity, and promoting the welfare of children and young people. An enhanced DBS check will be required. This post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

As one of the top state schools in the UK, we believe in challenging and supporting our girls to make the most of every opportunity in their formal studies and beyond.  Stratford Girls’ Grammar School is a selective girls' 11 to 18 school with 816 girls on roll. The school added an extra form of entry in September 2013, and grew to capacity to 800 in 2017.  We are, therefore, still small enough as a secondary school to ensure that all the girls are known to us.  Pupils are drawn from an extremely wide catchment area: there is a priority circle with a 17 mile radius, and we also attract students from further afield - from Solihull to Banbury, Evesham to Kenilworth.

We are proud to be a single-sex girls' school, and always keen to promote girl-power!  We firmly believe that girls thrive in a nurturing all-girls' environment, developing self-esteem and the confidence to take on leadership roles - and research has shown that girls can and do achieve better academically in single-sex schools, too.
