Job overview

• To lead and organise the pastoral and curriculum provision within the Alternative Provision (AP) Centre.

• To lead and teach students within the AP Centre.

• To keep accurate records of Alternative Provision across the school and report to the Senior Leadership Team directly.

• Administer and manage all pastoral matters including all platforms eg. Class Charts.

• Establish productive working relationships with students in the AP Centre acting as a role model.

• To challenge and motivate students, promoting and reinforcing their self esteem.

• To monitor and organise students on an alternative curriculum and part time timetables and provide feedback to students and stakeholders in relation to progress, achievement, behaviour and attendance.

• To receive and oversee internal exclusions, and students with planned intervention and support programming in school. To report on the impact of these interventions with the SLT. 

• To assist in a comprehensive assessment of students to determine those in need of particular help.

• To retrack students who have been temporarily withdrawn from certain lessons and monitor work set.

• To assist with implementing behaviour plans for certain students and to oversee and monitor progress.

• To create and maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date record of intervention and strategies for identified students.

• To co-ordinate and signpost support for students with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties in collaboration with the Key Workers.

• To liaise with outside agencies regarding students and act as lead professional in some multi-agency settings.

• To implement and analyse the use of data for discipline and rewards including Internal exclusion data.

• To attend appropriate meetings.

• To develop strategies with Heads of Year and other support staff to promote student inclusion.

• To work closely with the SEND department to best provision and outcomes for students on alternative provision.
