Job overview

An opportunity has arisen within the academy for a Pastoral Assistant to join the Pastoral Team.  As a Pastoral Assistant you will be working with teachers and support staff to develop how students manage their behaviour. You will work under the guidance of the Year Leaders and Inclusion Manager to deliver effective support to individual and groups of students.

You will be responsible for:

• Providing high quality support for individual and small groups of students who are presenting with challenging behaviour.

• Mentoring individuals who require additional support to overcome barriers to learning.

• Providing first aid to students and staff.

• Interviewing students involved in incidents of inappropriate behaviour.

• To communicate regularly with parents/carers and outside agencies.

• Accurate record keeping, including leading on additions/updates to individual student files, maintaining files, racist incidents and exclusions, and entering incidents/actions electronically on the academy’s management information system.
