Job overview

As Pastoral Manager at Cedar House School, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team with shared responsibility for leading the continued development and vision of the school. You will be committed to meeting the emotional needs of our pupils, helping us to transform the lives of up to 72 children aged 7 – 18.  Leading an experienced and established Pastoral Team you will have the opportunity to inspire, engage and educate pupils with SEN thus supporting them to realise their potential. Through the implementation of comprehensive intervention plans, you and the wider team will contribute to pupils’ improved attendance, behaviour and welfare.

In your role as Pastoral Manager, you will be pivotal in the safeguarding of all our pupils. You will have a thorough knowledge of statutory national safeguarding guidance and be confident in applying this in the school context. Your ability to understand the needs of our pupils, regardless of their educational needs (including emotional and social difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions, speech and language communication difficulties and associated mental health needs), will enable you to establish positive relationships quickly. You will have a sound understanding of the underlying factors that drive children and young people’s behaviour and will be committed to work within our Positive Behaviour Support strategy.

At Cedar House, you will not be working in isolation. Alongside the Pastoral, Education and Care teams, the in-house Therapy Team provides specialist support to enhance our provision. You will be open to new ways of thinking and will be proactive in contributing to an environment in which all can flourish.

That is why we are looking for someone special. You will have had managerial experience within the education/care sector and be driven to achieve the best possible outcomes for all children and young people, ideally with knowledge of complex educational needs. Importantly, you are willing and able to meet all challenges with a positive ‘can do’ attitude and work effectively within a team.

For children and young people with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. That is what drives us at Witherslack Group. We are a leading provider of specialist education and care for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, communication difficulties, complex learning needs and challenging behaviours. We have a reputation for excellence and of achieving the highest possible outcomes. In short, we are enhancing life opportunities.

Reward

We know you are going to do great things. For your hard work and commitment, we want to reward you with a salary and benefits package that is among the best in our sector. You will receive a competitive salary, contributory pension (matched up to 5%) and comprehensive induction and ongoing training, as well as extensive Group staff benefits such as Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance, Cycle to Work and tax free childcare vouchers. Witherslack conducts DBS Enhanced checks and covers the costs for all new employees.

Holidays: 35 days a year with school holidays accrued from working 42.6 hours rather than 37.

The Witherslack Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. We are an equal opportunities employer welcoming applications from all sections of the community.
