Job overview

Sandwell Learning Centre is our brand new learning centre near Oxford. As Pastoral Care Manager you’ll help us meet our young peoples’ emotional needs, lead our Pastoral Team and help transform the lives of up to 15 young people, educating, inspiring, engaging and realising their potential.  You’ll have plans in place to see that our young people – whatever their needs, have dignity and respect and leave the school feeling proud of what they’ve achieved and what they’re capable of. And with the backing of the broader management team, a range of supporting specialists and state-of-the-art-facilities, we know we’re all set for a bright future.

The learning centre will cater for young people between the ages of 9 and 18 years. It will offer a highly personalised and structured curriculum for all pupils, allowing them person to equip themselves with the skills and practical experience they need for life beyond school and into their chosen career. Our integrated Therapeutic Provisions offer a complete package of residential care and on-site learning. There are strong links between the learning centre and children’s home to ensure that the young people are closely supported throughout their school day and home life and to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved.

That’s why we’re looking for someone who’s pretty unique. Our new Pastoral Manager will be committed to fulfilling the potential of each and every one of our young people, no matter what their educational needs (including emotional and social difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions and speech and language communication difficulties), you share our belief that all young people are capable of achieving great things. With a focus on attendance, behavioural, pastoral and welfare issues, in order to maximise the learning opportunities and ultimately outcomes for your children and young people.

As a Pastoral Care Manager already, you’ll ideally have experience of dealing with complex education needs, as you’ll need to connect with our young people – understanding what makes them unique and working to make a real difference to their social and emotional development. But none of this fazes you, as it’s what you’re passionate about. And why you’ll fit right in.

For children and young people with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. That’s what drives us, here at Witherslack Group. We are a leading provider of specialist education and care for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, communication difficulties, complex learning needs and challenging behaviours. We have a reputation for excellence and of achieving the highest possible outcomes. In short, we’re enhancing life opportunities.

Reward

We know you’re going to do great things. For your hard work and commitment, we want to reward you with a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. You’ll receive a competitive salary, contributory pension (matched up to 5%), Life Insurance based on two times your annual base salary and comprehensive induction and ongoing training, as well as extensive Group staff benefits such as Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance and Cycle to Work Scheme. Witherslack conducts DBS Enhanced checks and covers the costs for all new employees.

Holidays: 35 days a year with school holidays accrued from working 42.6 hours rather than 37.
