Values and vision
Sheldon is an institution of high expectation and aspiration. It encourages children to develop academically, physically and spiritually through committed and dedicated teaching. It prides itself on being a place where unique individuals achieve their own aims. The school motto is "unity and loyalty", and Sheldon encourages all students to engage with different cultures and systems of belief.
There is particular progress for students in English and physical education, as well as creative subjects such as design and technology and art. A specialist school in science, sport and languages, Sheldon has multiple facilities for those subjects; the modern languages department, for example, has a frequently updated mobile library. The school newsletter, The Sheldon Standard, gives students the chance to submit articles – one of many opportunities available across the secondary school and sixth form.
