The role

Payroll Officers are responsible for the delivery of high-quality fortnightly payroll for Sydney Catholic Schools 10,000 employees ensuring accurate processing of salaries in a time-sensitive manner

Working in a supportive and close-knit team environment, not a fortnight will be the same!


Reporting to the Supervisor: Payroll, you will be responsible for:

  • Updating employee data/position changes
  • Terminations / resignations
  • High-level leave management
  • Respond to enquiries via the ticketing system
  • Escalation point for payroll enquiries

This position offers a generous salary package with additional NFP salary packaging of up to a maximum of $15,900 every year.


This position is currently based in Leichhardt but will be relocating mid-year to a Sydney CBD location.

The Person

As the Payroll Officer, you will be a proactive, deadline-driven and self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.


To be successful in this position, you must possess:

  • Experience in large volume payroll (5000+ employees)
  • Experience in a complex date-driven payroll system 
  • Proven ability to investigate issues and find solutions. 
  • High level of meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Google or other computer programs, systems and software
  • Willingness to respect, support, and uphold the mission, ethos, and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of Sydney Catholic Schools.
  • Ability to address and meet focus capabilities, as stated in the Role Description.

Experience with PeopleSoft is highly desirable.
