We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate, hard-working, PE Leader who will also teach Boys’ PE. Hinchingbrooke School is a ‘Good’ school (Ofsted November 2021) and last year secured ‘Above Average’ GCSE results with a Progress 8 score of +0.48.
The main responsibilities of this role are supporting the Head of PE in raising standards for Teaching and Learning and student achievement within PE.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the largest school in Cambridgeshire, and one with outstanding facilities for PE and Sports. These include a heated indoor swimming pool, a well-equipped gymnasium, a £2.5 million sports hall completed in 2016, all-weather tennis courts, hard playing areas for netball, a modern fitness suite, grass pitches and an oversized ‘3G’ all-weather playing surface. The adjacent parkland is also used for a range of activities including cross-country running, orienteering, problem solving / team challenges and mountain biking. PE is popular at both KS4 and 5 and we offer GCSE PE and OCR CNAT Sports Studies at KS4 and at A-Level we offer A-Level PE and Level 3 BTEC Sport.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative strong team of 14 teachers and a PE technician. From the moment you join us you will feel welcomed and supported by the whole school team ranging from ECTs through to highly experienced practitioners.
The successful candidate will ideally have a specialism sport, but this is not compulsory. They must also be willing to provide a rich and broad extra-curricular programme for our students through leading training and fixtures in a range of sports.
The school offers a bespoke CPD programme, research and development, links and networks with other outstanding schools as well as a plethora of extra-curricular and cross-curricular working opportunities.
The school sees the form tutor as a key role in the support, development and welfare of the students and teachers are expected to undertake this role with the same standards and commitment as their subject role.
