The British School, Kathmandu is a not for profit, non-selective, coeducational school.  Around 550 students from Early Years to Year 13 attend school in our unique campus in the historical area of Patan, surrounded by the Himalayan mountain range. Our community consists of families from over 40 different countries and together we help develop young people who strive for excellence and who are kind, through an emphasis on challenge, creativity, confidence, compassion, and community.

Our educational framework reflects our international community, with students following the International Primary Curriculum and an adapted form of the UK National Curriculum, leading towards international GCSEs and A-Levels. Our students achieve excellent results, consistently well above UK averages, but more importantly, they are kind and a delight to teach.  Our most recent BSO inspection summarised our school as providing “outstanding quality of education and demonstrating exceptional flexibility in meeting the learning and personal needs of its students.''

Kathmandu is a bustling, colorful and vibrant city within a country containing eight of the world’s ten highest mountains, making this an explorer's paradise; highly attractive to those interested in adventurous outdoor activities. It is rich in culture and history and is a safe place to live and work.  The cost of living is low and with pay scales above those in the UK, coupled with generous benefits, our teachers live well, save well, and are able to avail of high-quality holiday experiences in the region.

The school is a founding member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) and a  fully accredited member of the Confederation of British International Schools (COBIS).
