Salary: £43,000 to £45,000 DOE

About the Role:

As a Physical Education Teacher at Yarrow Heights School, you will create and lead engaging PE lessons, activities, organising sporting events, and trips in accordance with the philosophy and working ethos of the school and all relevant legislation/regulation, meeting the Independent School Standards.

Ensure the achievement of excellent educational delivery that is assessed, achieved and recorded.

Ideal Candidates Will:

•                    Develop and adapt a wide PE curriculum to meet the diverse needs and abilities of pupils with SEN.

•                    Plan and implement inclusive and engaging PE lessons that focus on gross motor skills, coordination, and sensory integration and support mental health.

•                    Foster a supportive, fun and encouraging atmosphere where pupils feel empowered to participate and succeed.

•                    Monitor and assess pupil progress, adjusting teaching methods as needed to ensure continuous improvement.

•                    Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and other stakeholders to provide updates on pupil achievements and challenges.

•                    Lead on the creation of schemes of work to meet the curriculum requirements.

•                    Writing, contributing and implementing individual education plans, making assessments of educational attainment, setting challenging yet achievable targets.

•                    Engagement: Foster strong, positive, and professional relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents and the wider community.

Qualifications:

•                    Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).

•                    QTS (ECT candidates considered)

•                    Experience working with pupils with special educational needs, preferably in a school or therapeutic setting or a strong desire to work within an SEN environment.

•                    Demonstrate talent, passion and innovation in teaching.

•                    Have compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of pupils with SEN.

•                    Strong communication, teamwork, and collaboration, and organisational skills.

•                    Be self-motivated, reliable, and a resilient, positive team player.

•                    Prioritise child safeguarding and equality.

•                    Embrace versatility and adaptability and the drive to make a difference.

Yarrow Heights School is a mixed 7-19, local authority funded, SEN day school for children, most of who are able learners with an EHCP and a diagnosis with ASC and associated needs.
