Job overview
The successful candidate will:
- Provide instrumental tuition on a 1-1 basis with approximately 10 pupils. This number can go up and down but is approximately what we have at any one time.
- Teach mixed ages from Year 3 to Year 8 so children from ages 8-13 years.
- Teach a mixed ability of children from beginner to more advanced diploma level.
- Teach for approximately 1 day a week on a Thursday.
- The role is offered on a casual basis with no guarantee of hours. Hours can, and will, vary each term dependent on the number of children signing up for lessons.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills:
- Experienced percussion teacher, happy to teach both drum kit and orchestral percussion
- Inspirational drum teacher to support a dynamic Percussion Department at Cheam.
- Inspirational leader experienced at working with children.
- Comfortable working with beginner players as well as advanced players.
- Good communicator with pupils and parents.
- Team Player.
- Willing to be part of a wider music team at Cheam. There is a huge opportunity for both Ensemble work and performing opportunities.
- Competent ICT skills for administration purposes.

Cheam was founded in 1645 and is one of the oldest prep schools in the world. Cheam is a IAPS boarding and day school with some 310 pupils, boys and girls, in the prep school and approximately 80 in the Pre-Prep and Nursery.
