Job overview

Dunottar is a co-educational school for pupils aged 11-18 set in extensive grounds of 15 acres on the outskirts of Reigate. With a new Headmaster in September 2017, the school is on a very exciting journey.  The school is experiencing fast growth in pupil numbers and it is undergoing a £6.6 million capital development programme to accommodate future growth. Our new Sixth Form centre was completed in May 2019, with our new whole school Assembly Hall scheduled for completion in January 2021.

Dunottar is a great place to work, with a team of highly professional and committed teachers and support staff.  We incorporate best practice from independent schools and academies right across the United Learning Group, whilst retaining our unique, friendly ethos in Reigate where pupils are nurtured to make significant personal progress at the same time as achieving excellent academic results.  United Learning is an organisation which prides itself on providing a working and learning environment which encourages ‘the best in everyone’.  You will join a network of staff belonging to over 80 other schools, with opportunities to engage with fellow professionals which far exceed what one school could achieve on its own.  Personal development and career opportunities are excellent.

 The Music Department

The Music department has experienced rapid growth in recent years with an increasing number of children involved in musical performances.  The school teaches Music to both GCSE and A-Level. A Large number of pupils take instrumental and/or singing lessons across all year groups and the department leads a busy schedule of choirs and ensembles, with concerts, performances and musical trips taking place throughout the year.

The school is excited by the addition of the new assembly hall which will consist of new Music and Drama classrooms, practice rooms and a performance space. The addition of this new performance area will provide even more scope for our musical groups.

The Role

We are seeking an inspirational and experienced musician to teach singing at Dunottar during the school day (with the addition of before/after school lessons depending on demand or teacher availability). The successful candidate would relish the opportunity to join our successful and friendly Music department and make a significant contribution to the co-curricular activities of our thriving and well-equipped Music department across the whole School. We are looking for someone with an ability to stimulate curiosity and interest in Music who can teach across all the singing styles.  There is a need to be flexible and willing to teach remotely and person in line with DfE guidelines.  You need to give full commitment to the aims and ethos of this Departments and to Dunottar School.

The successful candidate will share our passion for developing the work of the department and sharing good practice.
