Smart Teachers is recruiting a Play and Youth Manager to work on a permanent basis with a special school based in Westminster. The school provides support for students aged between 4 and 16 years and covers a range of needs. The centre provides and delivers a range of creative and innovative specialist and inclusive services to children and young people with disabilities.

About the Role

  • Play and Youth Manager on permanent contract
  • Permanent salary is £28,015 per annum
  • Working 37.5 hours a week with the need to be able to be flexible, including Saturdays
  • Responsible for the coordination, development and management of a range of high quality inclusive early years services for children with and without disabilities within an Ofsted inspected learning environment
  • Will be providing specialist care and education of children with significant special educational needs along with children without special needs
  • To provide a creative, fun and varied curriculum incorporating the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum planning into all sessions
  • To always maintain a high standard of education for each child; ensuring each child’s progress is monitored and they are achieving to their full potential
  • To work in collaboration with parents, therapists, social workers and key workers in assessing new key children; devising individual education / action plans to ensure their progress, and to support the inclusion of all children at Rainbow into mainstream settings wherever possible
  • To ensure the mapping and planning for the holiday play schemes, exploring activities taking place in local activities centres which meet the needs and interests of the children attending. This will include transport arrangements, finances, risk management and staffing ratios
  • Ensuring new referrals are followed up immediately, ensuring data is kept updated for monitoring and reporting purposes and working closely with all other children and families services for seamless transitions 
  • To develop the nursery to be financially viable and meet the needs of local families

In order to be considered for this role, the Play and Youth Manager will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Have experience running and managing a nursery 
  • Hold an Early Years Qualification to NVQ Level 3 or higher
  • Knowledge of Ofsted, SEND legislation and Children & Families Act
  • Have a positive non-judgemental approach
  • Experience in recruitment, induction, training, supervision and coaching experience which demonstrate strong leadership and management of teams in delivering services for children
  • Significant experience of working with children with and without SEND and planning within the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and Birth to Three Matters Framework
  • Strong communication and management skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a variety of different groups such as children, parents, schools and other professionals as partners
  • Ability to record, monitor and evaluate services and skilling team’s in recording and producing evidence of individuals outcomes and monitoring of service for development
