Ardingly College is seeking to appoint a Steward to join their busy team. The role involves moving furniture and equipment, delivering mail and laundry, refuse clearance, driving minibuses to transport students and staff, and ensuring minibuses are clean, tidy and fit for purpose.
The position is for 40 weeks per year which is term-time, plus an additional 6 weeks. The additional 6 working weeks will be required during the holiday periods by arrangement with the line manager and are likely to include the first week of July, the last 3 weeks of August and the beginning and end of the Easter holiday period. Annual leave for the 40 week per year position is expected to be taken during the College holiday times outside of these periods.
Candidates should have good communication skills, be physically fit and able to lift furniture and other heavy objects and be able to work outside in all weathers. In addition, candidates should be self-motivated, have a flexible and positive outlook and be able to work well in a busy team environment.
A full, clean driving licence is essential with a minimum of two years’ driving experience. Driving licence category D1 or PCV, and experience of driving a variety of vehicles would be an advantage.
The role is 42.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7, 8 ½ hour shifts between the hours of 5.30am and 7.30pm. On occasion, there may be a need to cover the security lock up of the campus, which would require working from 2.00pm until 11.00pm, and the Monday morning Clapham bus route which would require starting work at 4.30am.
The salary is £20,143.95 per annum (£23,381.38 FTE).
