An exciting opportunity to work within a vibrant and dynamic international school in the UK capital city. We are currently looking for a part-time Portuguese Language Teacher to join the International School of London. 

The International School of London was originally founded in 1972 and was amongst the first schools in the country to offer the International Baccalaureate programme. There is a strong commitment to the on-going professional training of all staff and for providing leadership development at all levels.   

You would join an exciting and successful Language department which follows an established IB Programme at all levels (PYP, MYP and IB Diploma). ISL delivers an inquiry based, international curriculum that is delivered and planned in a truly collaborative manner. The School is developing several technology initiatives and the successful candidate would be ideally placed for involvement in these innovations and able to make lasting contributions to the school.   

The ideal candidate will have:   

  • A relevant degree and teaching qualification  
  • Previous experience teaching Portuguese Language and Literature and recent IB teaching experience is highly desirable 
  • An interest in working with international students 
  • An interest to integrate technology into the classroom
  • Proven capacities to work with international students and support students for whom English is not their mother tongue

Hours: The position covers PYP, MYP & DP- 0.72 FTE

For the right candidates, we would be open to splitting the position into primary (0.29FTE) and secondary (0.43FTE).

Curriculum

An International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, they offer the Primary Years (PYP) and Middle Years Programmes (MYP) as well as the IB Diploma. The IB programmes combine intellectual rigour and high academic standards with a strong emphasis on the ideals of international understanding and responsible citizenship.

This was one of the first schools in the UK to offer the IB diploma.
