We are building a team of teachers at Olive Academies who are confident and enthusiastic about delivering our innovative curriculum at our alternative provision academy in Thurrock. We work with teachers who are determined to improve the life chances of young people aged 11 to 16 with social, emotional and mental health challenges.
We are looking for a great primary practitioner or a nurture practitioner who will teach our literacy and numeracy focused curriculum to a small KS3 group.
The Olive AP Academy -Thurrock KS3 short-term programme develops pupils’ social, emotional and mental skills through an integrated and therapeutic curriculum.
The way we teach at Olive AP Academy Thurrock gives our pupils:
- Real life immersion experiences, field work and outdoor learning opportunities
- Physical, drama and art therapeutic approaches to learning
- Resilience and character building through service to the community
- An “ethic of excellence”; encouraging our pupils to produce “beautiful work”
- Learning through head, heart and hands experiences
- We are looking for someone who can model and encourage traits such as leadership, communication, determination, ambition, reflection, empathy and conviction.

Olive AP Academy - Thurrock
Just 40 minutes from central London by train, Olive AP Academy - Thurrock is based in Tilbury. Our brand new building opened to staff and students in summer 2017. The academy was graded as 'Good' in all areas at its last Ofsted inspection in December 2018.
We work with pupils who have been permanently excluded from school and those who have medical needs. Our alternative provision academy has up to 96 students aged between 11 and 16 on roll at any one time.
Olive AP Academy – Thurrock is part of the Olive Academies Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), approved by the Department for Education. Established in 2013, it is one of the first academy sponsors specialising in alternative provision in England.
