About


The Lab School Paris is a non-profit independent, innovative, bilingual, socially-minded, secular and eco-responsible school. In 2021-2022, 86 students are enrolled from CP to 3e (1st to 9th grade), divided into three classes (multi-age, multi-level). Its pedagogy is inspired on the one hand by the contribution of pioneers of educational innovation such as John Dewey, Célestin Freinet, Paulo Freire or Maria Montessori, and on the other hand by current research in the field of education (educational sciences, psychology, sociology, cognitive sciences).

The teacher will work as part of an international team of French and English speaking elementary school and middle school teachers, a collegial management team, a communication officer and arts teacher, and an administrative officer.


Your role

In close collaboration with the management team, your main mission will be to ensure the implementation of the educational project of the Lab School Paris. With a French-speaking school teacher, you will be in charge of a two level class (5th and 6th grades) of 28 to 30 students.

You will implement a schooling adapted to the specific needs of the children, in agreement with their family.


Specific tasks

To develop a relationship of trust with the students; to value their successes and their daily progress, to accompany them in the acquisition of autonomy through differentiated teaching

To design and implement lessons for a double level class aiming an efficient acquisition of knowledge and competences, in reference to the school program contents and the research recommendations, in collaboration with the teachers of the same level, and in dialogue with the colleagues from other levels and the management team 

Support the students in the realization of their individual or collective projects and in artistic and sports subjects

Share a friendly moment with the children at mealtime or at recess in the park (one hour service once a week)

Communicate with parents about the child's learning and behavior

Be involved in the life of the school


Required Skills

Experience in classroom teaching, sensitivity to active pedagogies (Freinet, Montessori, Dewey...) would be appreciated

Taste for listening and non-violent communication

Taste for teamwork: weekly team meeting and pedagogical consultation (one evening after school and one lunch break), one seminar per period (one saturday or one day during the vacations), occasional participation in the writing of collaborative documents intended to document practices, possibly within the framework of projects in collaboration with researchers

Creativity, reactivity, initiative, openness

Taste for teamwork and interest in research and pedagogical innovation (cooperative pedagogies, flipped classroom, EdTech)

Minimum of one year of experience in teaching a class (internships not included) Remuneration according to profile

Full time position (35 hours annualized) including 25 hours of presence with students during school time. Participation in discussions and working meetings as soon as a positive response to your application is received will be necessary to prepare you for the position.
