Job overview

PRIMARY TEACHERS REQUIRED FOR JANUARY 2019

Due to continued growth Panyathip - The British International School in Laos - requires additional Primary Teachers in January 2019.  The vacancies will be in Vientiane.

These are excellent posts for Newly Qualified  (NQT) and Experienced Teachers alike, since teaching at Panyathip will provide opportunities for those who wish to develop their skills, take the initiative in bringing new ideas and play a part in the development of a relatively new, growing and  highly supportive school.

The School's Vision  "Become the Best that You can Be" is its guiding principle and recent developments have shown what that means in practical ways. These include the opening of a purpose-built Primary Campus, just a few minutes from the Secondary School (where the Primary School used to be housed). The purpose built Kindergarten is also very close to the Primary so it is possible to ensure continuity of education through a one-school approach.  Our EY/Primary Campus  in Nonsavanh Village in a developing part of Vientiane is within easy reach of the other campuses.

The Primary School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum of England and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC).  Class Teachers take most subjects though we also have specialists who teach Music, Art, IT, PE and Chinese.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is comfortable in teaching students for whom English is an additional language and who understand the importance of differentiation in the classroom.

In many ways, the Primary School is like a large family; students and staff are seen as individuals and classes are relatively small allowing the team to have a strong collegial approach. By and large our students are keen to learn and teachers are able to teach rather than have to maintain discipline.

Living and Working in Laos  - Vientiane is the capital of Laos which is separated from Thailand by the mighty Mekong river. The border with Thailand is not far from school over the 'Friendship Bridge' where there are further amenities.

Vientiane itself seems more like a large town rather than the seat of government. It is safe and the people are friendly. There are cafes and restaurants and a range of different cultural opportunities available in the city or nearby.

The airport provides easy access to neighbouring countries and within Laos, for example, the UNESCO World Heritage destination of Luang Prabang is less than an hour away by plane. (The really adventurous can travel there by road or river - though both take a little longer).

For the successful candidate our package includes a tax-paid dollar salary (paid in dollars and kip - the local currency), travel allowance, daily lunch and other benefits. Specific details will be discussed with those who are short-listed.

You can find out more about the school on our website : www.pislao.com and on our Facebook page  @PISVTE .

Applications Please apply using the online form, providing the names and addresses of at least two referees and submitting your CV.

Panyathip International Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practices and pre-employment background checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. All teachers appointed to Panyathip - The British International School in Laos, are required to provide criminal records checks. Further details will be provided during interview.

Panyathip International School - The British International School in Laos, is a well-established International School having been founded in the Academic Year 2001-2002. From one Campus with a small number of students the school has grown to  5 Campuses in Laos.

The School was initially registered as a Private Education Institute by the Ministry of Education and Sports as a Bilingual School as it offered both an English as well as Lao programme, but has now gained the recognition as The British International School in Laos. Over the 17 years, we have grown from a small primary school with an enrolment of 60+ students to the current school enrolment of 1,000+ students, from the Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary, at the four campuses in Vientiane as well as one campus in Savannakhet.
