Job overview

South Lanarkshire College delivers outcomes that exceed all sector norms across a range of student, staff and financial performance indicators.  It has a diverse and inclusive culture, attracting students from a huge variety of backgrounds and abilities, enabling them to achieve their very best.  Student attainment rates in almost all categories are amongst the highest in Scotland and, in some categories, the best in Scotland.  The College has an impressive and enviable track record with further ambitious plans for the future.

We have grown our fundable activity year-on-year for the past five years.   We always meet or exceed our fundable activity-level target.  With our Low-energy, low-carbon buildings and associated curriculum, we are considered pioneering in relation to sustainable development and behaviours.
Our new Strategic Framework “Delivering Excellence”, builds on our strong past performance and sets out clearly our vision, mission, values, culture and strategic priorities within our operating context.

Our College, however, is much more than this.  Achieving awards such as Platinum Investors in People and an “outstanding” BREEAM award for sustainability is rewarding, but more important to us is what these say about our culture, approach and ethos.

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional, high-calibre and values-focused Principal and Chief Executive.  This is a outstanding opportunity for you if you are an inspirational and ambitious leader, who can demonstrate success at senior management level and who can lead our College to even greater success.

In this role, you will be responsible to the Board of Management and will be working with an excellent group of colleagues, partners and a supportive Chair and Board of Management.   You will be a member of the Regional Strategic Body and will work closely with your counterpart at New College Lanarkshire in delivering highest-quality education across the Lanarkshire region.

You will have the professionalism and ability to make a difference and to ensure that the success of the College continues.  You will be a proven leader with the ability to put your knowledge and understanding of effective leadership and management into practice in the running of an outstanding college business.  You will have a track record of leading and delivering innovation, expansion and organisational change.   If you can bring personality and genuine desire to succeed, and if taking this very successful College to the next level excites you, then we’d like to speak to you.
