Job overview

Ref: HCC12848

Hertfordshire County Council’s Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is at the heart of our commitment to helping local communities fulfil their potential. Part of Hertfordshire’s Integrated Services for Learning, this team is committed to promoting effective learning and emotional wellbeing amongst children and young people, many of whom face complex challenges. It is split into four large geographical areas, each headed up by a Deputy Principal Educational Psychologist.

Leading our overall EPS, you’ll ensure that a high-quality, integrated service is provided across Hertfordshire’s schools and children’s services. You’ll take on a large and geographically dispersed team with a breadth of psychology experience, including staff with access to the latest academic research. You’ll also benefit from well-established processes and systems. Contributing to the ongoing transformation of our SEND functions, you’ll ensure our practices are finely tuned to the needs of service users. With many line management responsibilities overseen by your Deputies, you will have the time and scope to think strategically and push forward change. Your plans will be supported by the Business Support Function, accelerating the process of turning great ideas into exceptional services.

Put your skills to the test with a council that embraces your expertise and respects your knowledge. This is a true leadership role with the requirement to deliver major innovations and address the challenging issues that accompany them. Crucially, you will be capable of nurturing relationships and building effective collaborations with a wide range of stakeholders in order to integrate services such as Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, and Paediatrics. A qualified professional, you are likely to have experience of managing people and change within another EPS.

Hertfordshire is a county of opportunity, in which to pursue your career ambitions. We offer a sector-leading package and flexible working options designed around a good work-life balance.

We can also offer a relocation package of up to £6,000, subject to terms.
