About Primary Education at Harris:

Primary education at Harris comprises 19 Primary academies, plus three all-through academies, with every inspected academy having been judged Good or Outstanding (59% Outstanding). Some of these academies are new free schools, but most were previously failing schools located in challenging areas of London.

The independent Education Policy Institute regularly ranks  Harris as a top performing Primary trust for pupil progress. Our group results were 76% at Key Stage 2 this summer. Our academies are generally located in areas of disadvantage and all of our academies are in or close to London.

Why join the Harris Federation?

The Harris Federation is the leading large Multi Academy Trust in the country for primary and secondary education. We have built a proven track record in school improvement through rapid transformations, and we are at the forefront of developing a new generation of talented senior leaders.

Professional development and collaboration are key to our success, and we provide top quality training at every level from Beginner Teachers to Executive Leaders. We invest in our staff with coaching, mentoring, and a wide range of training programmes, delivered by our Teaching School Alliance. Two Harris academies hold Teaching School status and Harris also runs the highly successful London Thames Maths Hub, as well as working in partnership with a number of external organisations.

Harris is a Federation and not a chain; each academy is different, reflecting the particular aspirations and leadership style of its Principal. We are recognised for transforming the life chances of the children that we educate, and we have the capacity and track record to support your success as a Principal.

Our vision is that Harris academies work collaboratively in sharing school improvement strategies, and support one another as part of the wider Harris Federation. It is clear that our academies benefit from working collectively, which creates a powerful tool for raising standards. We look for talented individuals who want to help transform education in London, and create exceptional places of learning.

Informal conversations are welcomed and visits to our academies are highly encouraged. If you would like to discuss the post in confidence please call Sabeena Hasan, Primary Director, on 020 8253 7777. To arrange a visit, or for further information, please contact harry.bond@harrisfederation.org.uk

About Harris Primary Academy Kenley

School summary

Harris Primary Academy Kenley opened in September 2013. We have more than 400 lively young minds at our Academy. Children are supported to be the best they can be by our dedicated teachers and support staff.

Our aim is to provide a happy, safe and focused school environment that engages children fully in their learning. We plan and tailor the curriculum to our pupils so that each is taught in the way that suits them best. We encourage all children to follow their natural gifts and talents and nurture these in every way we can both in classes and through extracurricular activities and trips. Our pupils are sensible, eager to learn and enjoy coming to school each day.

Academy Ethos

Our aim is to make sure that, from the first day of their education, our pupils have a truly happy experience of school. This means teaching them to become confident learners and nurturing each child’s personality and character.

Whatever a child’s background or starting point, we want to make sure that they finish Year 6 with the academic skills, social skills and knowledge necessary to succeed. Every lesson at our school is creative and there is plenty of time for children to think, to play, to discover and wonder.

Each child is taught in the way that suits them best and we step in quickly if a change is needed. For some children, this might involve one-to-one support if they are finding something difficult and for others it could mean stretching them more to keep them interested.

Our school is relaxed and comfortable but pupils know that good behaviour is expected of them and are taught to respect each other and their teachers. They are frequently praised and rewarded for trying their best and for being kind, hard-working and well-behaved.

Our school is friendly and welcoming and we always make sure that every pupil has at least one friend.
