We are looking for an existing Headteacher, Principal, Head of School or Operational Principal or a previous Headteacher/Principal with recent experience.  Alternatively, you are a very experienced Vice Principal with a wide and complex portfolio across all areas of headship. If you are driven, motivated and creative, with a genuine love for transforming lives through education, then we want to hear from you.

Our new Principal will be someone who:

  • Fully recognises the link between culture, aspirations, curriculum and outcomes
  • Is passionate about culturally enriching our students
  • Clearly knows what excellent teaching and learning looks like
  • Understands the importance of firm pastoral structures and approaches
  • Can build on the expertise and experience we already have in our staff
  • Recognises the value of empowering others to build a positive culture

Yes, we seek someone who truly shares our moral mission to educate and who can inspire and engage our stakeholders.

This post will require a resilient individual who relishes a challenge and is not adverse to taking risks. The post holder will also be a key member of the Trust’s Executive Leadership Team.

Both Brompton Academy and Chatham Grammar have strong staff teams who want to be positively led and motivated. The successful applicant will be joining a supportive learning environment characterised by open, pragmatic leadership and management, secure in the knowledge that they will enjoy the full support and care of colleagues, and our University sponsor.

Both academies’ last Ofsted inspections were rated good. Overall, we have a dynamic, innovative team of professional staff who want to make a difference to the lives, aspirations and opportunities of our young people in this socially and economically deprived area.

Where is Brompton Academy?

Set within the Garden of England, Brompton Academy is located adjacent to the Great Lines Heritage Park, which are Medway's most prominent green spaces with over 70 hectares of open space.  The location of the Academy provides excellent transport links by rail to London (with the option of a high-speed service) and its main airports and is less than an hour from the main channel ports giving easy access to mainland Europe.  Gillingham railway station is just a 10-15 minute walk away.  The Academy also has excellent transport links by road from the M2/A2 (and has free car parking!).

Within close proximity of the Academy, there are a wide range of leisure and cultural activities.  Just five minutes by car brings you to Historic Dockyard Chatham, one of Britain’s leading maritime heritage destinations where you can explore galleries and museums and enjoy a multitude of festivals and events throughout the year.  The Dockside Outlet centre sports over 40 great retailers if you are interested in some retail therapy, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, gyms, hotels and a newly built Odeon Cinema.

The local area boasts great sporting facilities and the nearby Medway Park (5 minute walk) is an established sports centre with three indoor swimming pools, gym, fitness centre, sports hall and squash courts.  Our Lead Sponsor, the University of Kent also offers a professional Sports Therapy Clinic at Medway Park and offers discounted rates to any BA staff.

For those that might be interested in discovering a bit more about the local area we are very fortunate to have some beautiful landmarks close by and would encourage you to visit the historical town of Rochester, home of Charles Dickens where you will find museums, stunning historic buildings including the 800+ year old Rochester Castle and Rochester Cathedral together with a wide range of hotels and restaurants, bars, tea shops and a buzzing night life.  Or you might want to visit the more rural and quiet tranquil river village of Upnor where you will find Upnor Castle located on the west bank of the River Medway in Kent.

The location of the Academy also provides a wide range of housing options, so whether you are an NQT or an experienced teacher, looking for your first property, moving up the property ladder or relocating to the area, there is a varied selection of properties to suit your needs.  We would be happy to assist you in providing useful information and contacts if you are looking to relocate to the area.

With all of this so close to the Academy, there really is a lot on offer for working at Brompton Academy.

See for yourself and come and visit us if you are interested in joining us!
