PRINCIPAL

Day Waterman College seeks to appoint a dynamic and talented principal ideally for January 2020. However, for the right candidate, a later start date would be possible if necessary.

THE SCHOOL

Day Waterman College is a leading independent full boarding school in Nigeria. Situated near the town of Abeokuta, approximately 1.5 hours by road from Lagos, the school was founded in 2008 by Nigerian philanthropist, the late Mr. Tayo Aderinokun, with the aim ‘to surpass the most demanding standards available anywhere in the world’.

The school is coeducational and educates students from eleven to sixteen years of age, following the National Curriculum of England and Wales at Key Stage 3 and IGCSE at Key Stage 4. Day Waterman is a recognised centre for both Edexcel and Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). Academic standards are high with 40% of all IGCSE grades awarded in 2019 being at A* and 68% at A* or A. 83% of all grades awarded were in the range of A* to B and 96% in the range of A*- C.

The school campus extends over 35 hectares of natural landscape and is fully purpose built. In addition to well-equipped classrooms and ten comfortable boarding houses, there are extensive playing fields, a multipurpose hall, a large dining hall, a modern science department with an observatory, drama studio and swimming pool. Academic staff live on site and occupy comfortable and modern accommodation.

There are currently around 350 students with ample opportunity for further growth. Teaching staff come from both Nigeria and other countries and the school employs around 170 teaching and support staff in total.

The Board of Directors is pro-active in its role and provides support through a number of key sub-committees that look after different aspects of the school’s operations.
