Green Hills Academy (GHA) serves 1,550 students in Kigali, Rwanda. Green Hills Academy is seeking a capable and dedicated person to join the team and make a difference as a Primary School Principal overseeing 600 students (Grades 1-5) in August 2020. The ideal candidate should have effective communication skills for dealing with students, parents, teachers and support staff and should be organised, energetic and self-directed. The position requires the principal to work closely with the principals of the other divisions and the Primary Principal reports to the Head of School.  The position is to be filled in July or August 2020.

Job responsibilities:

The candidate must be able to hold site and curriculum responsibilities which include:

  • Act as an instructional leader in the primary program, tracking student achievement, coaching teachers, and analysing assessment data.
  • General school management for the primary school campus, including master scheduling and planning events.
  • Curriculum development, implementation, resourcing and training for all primary school staff members.
  • Personnel management for the primary school department, including conducting performance reviews and hiring.
  • Actively participate with other departments/teams in terms of accreditation, marketing, and whole school projects or initiatives.

 

Mandatory requirements:

  • A proven track record of monitoring and improving student achievement
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous experience in school administration at a leadership level
  • Native-level English, or near native-level English language skills, required
  • French language skills preferred, but not mandatory
  • Experience with Cambridge International Examinations curriculum and/or French National Curriculum preferred, but not mandatory
  • Master’s degree in Education
  • Current police clearance
