Job overview

Rainbow International School is seeking to appoint a Principal for August 2019.

The successful applicant will be leading the School’s Senior Leadership Team and will have responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of the school on a day-to-day basis. The Resident Director is looking for an experienced candidate who values the academic and inclusive ethos and also recognises the importance of strong pastoral care and extra-curricular activities within a school community.

Rainbow is a coeducational day and boarding school located in the Kansanga area of Kampala, Uganda for students between 2 – 18 years. Situated on an 11 acre site, the school has a student population of 570 with an equal number distributed between the EYFS, Primary and Secondary sections. The curriculum offered follows the EYFS and International Primary Curriculum, English National curriculum at Key Stage 3 and CAIE IGCSE and A Level options. Rainbow has consistently higher than average examination results, and current results are outstanding. BTEC Level 3 courses are also offered as an alternative pathway to further education with Hospitality, Business and Computing currently offered.

In May 2018, the current Principal led the school through the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) Patron’s Accreditation, the first accreditation of its kind for the school. Rainbow regularly takes part in COBIS competitions that includes the annual COBIS games.

This is an excellent opportunity for a current Principal/Head of School with a track record of successful leadership of teams and understanding of accreditation (preferably COBIS or CIS) as well as an abundance of drive and passion to continue the school improvement agenda.

If you would like an informal skype discussion with our current Principal, this can be arranged through the Human Resource Manager:   hr@risu.sc.ug

Applications for the post should include the following:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Letter of application stating your strengths and suitability for the role (with passport size photo at the top)
  • Names and contact details of three referees, of which one MUST be your current Head of School / Chair of Governing Body.
*Please do not attach any certificates at this stage.

All applications to be submitted electronically to applications@risu.sc.ug.

Deadline for all applications Friday 2nd November 2018.

Rainbow International School Uganda is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  Successful candidates will be asked for a valid ICPC/DBS check, or the equivalent police certificate of good conduct from the country of current employment. Background checks will be done.
