Job overview

Harris Primary Academy Stockwell will be a new Harris academy opening in June 2018 and will replace the existing Durand Academy in Lambeth. This large and high profile academy will comprise 850 pupils on two well-appointed sites located in Stockwell: Hackford Road and Cowley Road.

This is an exciting time for this school and we are looking to appoint a Headteacher who has a strong background in ensuring great outcomes for pupils, and who possesses the communication skills to win the trust of parents and the wider school community.

As the new Principal, you should have a clear vision for inner city primary education and have the drive to achieve the outstanding success the pupils deserve. We want a confident, highly motivated Principal who has the knowledge and skills required to lead this high profile academy to Outstanding status.

For senior leaders new to Headship, we can provide close support in the form of mentoring from our Primary Director and the wider central Primary Leadership team. For experienced headteachers, we can offer a career pathway to Executive Principalship in the future.

Who we are looking for:

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of school improvement. It is important to be a strong communicator with proven strengths in engaging with and inspiring not just staff, but also students and parents in the local area. You will provide the leadership and management necessary to secure high quality teaching and learning to raise standards of achievement.

Why join the Harris Federation?

The Harris Federation is a top performing Multi Academy Trust with an established track record in school improvement, and at the forefront of developing exceptional practitioners and senior leaders. The Federation provides a highly supportive network of Academies, Executives Leaders, Principals and mentors to help develop and progress your career.

Professional development and collaboration are key to our success, and we provide top quality training at every level from Beginner Teachers to Executive Leaders. We invest in our staff with coaching, mentoring, and a wide range of training programmes, delivered by our Teaching School Alliance. Two Harris academies hold Teaching School status and Harris also runs the highly successful London Thames Maths Hub, as well as working in partnership with a number of external organisations.

Harris is a Federation and not a chain; each academy is different, reflecting the particular aspirations and leadership style of its Principal. All of our primary and secondary academies are rated ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and we are recognised for transforming the life chances of the children that we educate.

We look for talented individuals who want to help transform education in London, and create exceptional places of learning.
