The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) is the Government-backed, sector-owned Workforce Development body for the FE sector. We are looking to appoint an outstanding individual to lead a directorate which focuses on the professional development of teachers, leaners and leaders through a team of programmed Heads managing a range of initiatives aimed at improving learner progression and outcomes. 

The programmes which fall within the remit of the Professional Development Director include 1) Teaching, Learning & Assessment, 2) Maths & English, 3) Leadership, Management & Governance and 4) QTLS & ATS delivery.

As the Professional Development Director, you will lead and co-create the work, ensuring we progress towards our long-term objectives. You will facilitate the sharing of knowledge and learning amongst Programme Heads, working closely with the other Director to achieve this aim. You will also ensure we meet the requirements of several stakeholders, mostly significantly, this will include DfE. You will be a key member of our Senior Management Team with the vital responsibility of ensuring that deliberations are informed by relevant knowledge and understanding of teaching, learning and leadership. 

The successful candidates will demonstrate:

· A high degree of executive presence, energy and enthusiasm – the ability to act and think like a Director

· Significant experience and expert knowledge in at least some of the programme areas

· Confidence and credibility in presenting effectively to a variety of audiences, including experts

· The ability to listen to, motivate and empower managers to deliver high quality to tight timescales

· Success in building and developing teams and ensuring they work well across the organisation

· Experience in managing outsourced programmes and/or working with consortia

· The ability to speak and write succinctly and to use numerical data effectively

· Good commercial understanding and the ability to deliver best value from a budget
