Job overview

We are looking for an inspirational and dynamic Programme Area Lead to contribute to the successful organisation and management of Professional Studies and Social Sciences within Loughborough College Sixth Form.     

The successful candidate will support individual teaching and curriculum support staff to meet challenging quality assurance and standards targets within the department and work closely with the Curriculum Manager to raise levels of learner achievement and contribute to the Department’s growth and development strategy.  

Reporting to the Curriculum Manager you will be responsible for leadership of programme delivery and related support ensuring high quality learning opportunities for learners. You will have specific responsibility for the learner experience and contribute to the successful planning, co-ordination, implementation and execution of external examination, assessment boards and validations.   

You will work closely with the Curriculum Manager to track and monitor formal assessments throughout the year against value added targets and then support teaching staff in putting swift and effective interventions in place to improve student performance.  

We are looking for an individual who can deliver excellent teaching and learning at A level, and who can inspire others across a range of academic subjects. Experience of some level of subject leadership would be an advantage.   

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to motivate learners and teaching colleagues with significant A level teaching experience in an appropriate subject. You should also have a knowledge of value added measures at Level 3, ambition and a can-do-attitude with a relevant degree and a teaching qualification.
