The Greater Horseshoe School is looking for innovative thinkers who can help keep our students engaged and excited about learning.


We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teacher to join our close-knit team at The Greater Horseshoe School in Heathfield, Devon.  Someone who takes a more creative approach to teaching would be perfect for this role.


We are looking for experienced candidates with Special Educational Needs (SEN), it isn’t essential but it is preferred.


The Greater Horseshoe School is a relatively new, large site surrounded by trees and flanked by a tranquil river and farmland. We have grown rapidly to support, currently, 41 young people, aged 7-18 Each child has individual needs based on communication and sensory challenges, which are associated with autism and we support them using a bespoke curriculum and the THRIVE approach.


The established staff team come from a variety of previous occupations and have individual skills, which can be utilised, within this school. So, if you have an interest and/or qualifications in animal care, horticulture, construction, outdoor education, forestry or any other specific trade or hobby, we would love to hear from you!

About the Role


We have an opportunity for an experienced Teacher to join our close-knit team with curriculum responsibilities (PSHE/RSE).  You will be responsible for the learning and achievement of all pupils in your class (es), ensuring the best opportunities for all.  You will be delivering inclusive, responsive and innovative teaching and learning within the specified curriculum area and be integral to the development of PSHE/RSE across the school.  There is potential for development opportunity into Head of Faculty.


Who we are looking for?


We are looking for a Qualified Teacher who wants to spend less time on paperwork and more time developing creative learning opportunities for the most reluctant and troubles learners.


This can be a challenging environment and therefore, determination and resiliency are key characteristics for the post. We are seeking an experienced practitioner with an understanding of SEN, allowing the successful candidate to immediately form positive relationships and adapt to the needs of the pupils. However, we invest heavily in teacher development and want staff who endeavour to achieve more.


No two days are the same, so we want Teachers who can work at pace to turn ‘can’t do’ into ‘want to’ and are motivated by working with children with complex needs. You will be motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential.  The ideal candidate will enjoy working with children in a calm and engaging demeanour, whilst being resilient using an innovative style of teaching motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential.
