The Hamilton and Alexandra College is a leading regional, independent, co-educational, day and boarding school from Early Learning to Year 12, working in association with the Uniting Church.

A permanent, full-time Psychology and Science teaching position is available, starting Term One, 2022.

The College has a future focused academic program that nurtures and develops the growth of the whole child, providing opportunity to pursue and develop passions and to achieve the highest standard of which they are capable of. 

Work with a dedicated team of teachers, who are specialists in their chosen fields. A staff mentor is provided to all newly appointed teachers at the College, and leadership and coaching opportunities exist for qualified applicants.

The successful applicant will be able to teach VCE Psychology and Middle Years Science at Year 7 to 9 level, and develop excellent relationships with our students and wider school community.


KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Fully qualified and registered to teach in a Victorian School. The person must have VIT teacher registration or interstate equivalent. 
  • Strong academic qualifications and teaching experience of Unit 1 to 4 VCE Psychology.
  • Proven ability and acknowledgement of being an outstanding classroom teacher.
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide innovation in education and the use of technology in their teaching.
  • Established understanding of current theory in teaching and learning pedagogy and the application to enhance learning.
  • Understanding of the specific academic, social and pastoral needs of adolescents and a particular enthusiasm for working with this age group.
  • Demonstrated application of differentiated teaching programmes.
  • Ability to encourage teamwork and be part of a committed faculty of Science educators.
  • Responsible for developing learning programmes that are in accordance with the VCAA requirements and Victorian Curriculum guidelines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of safe work practices; in particular, within a science laboratory environment.
  • Committed to the school’s co-curricular programme. 

All staff must be fully supportive of the aims of the College and it is an inherent requirement of the position that the applicant must be fully vaccinated with two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

A mentor is appointed for all newly appointed teachers at the College.
