We are seeking a self-motivated person to take charge of the Sixth Form at Southmoor’s Raising Aspirations programme, and to run the OxNet hub for the North East at Southmoor Academy in partnership with Oxford University. This unique role offers an exciting chance to inspire and support young people and work in an interdisciplinary capacity combing elements of widening participation, mentoring, coordination of academic programmes, event planning and networking.
We are seeking a graduate with a real belief in the benefit of higher education, who can use their experiences to help young people to make decisions about their future and secure places at university. This is a new initiative, and the right candidate will be able to see the role grow and develop across the region.
As Raising Aspirations Co-ordinator you will coordinate a structured programme of academic sessions delivered by lecturers from local Higher Education Institutes and arrange university visits, as part of the Year 11 and 12 Raising Aspirations Programme. You will coordinate a similar programme of school based activities for Y10 students attending local schools. You will also take responsibility as the school’s designated point of contact with the OxNet programme across the North East.
Hours to be worked flexibly, including evening and occasional weekend work, as necessary for the performance of the duties of the post.

Southmoor Academy is a mixed, non-denominational, non-selective secondary school with sixth form, located in Grangetown, Sunderland. The school has 1,132 places for students aged 11-18.
Formerly Southmoor Community School, Southmoor Academy converted to academy status in 2012, with its sixth form opening in 2014. It is supported by the Southmoor Multi Academy Trust.
