Job overview

We require for January 2019 a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher of Reception to join our thriving school.  This is to cover a period of maternity leave for 12 months/3 terms. 

We are a happy and welcoming school in the heart of Lewes. We are passionate that all our pupils should be treated an individuals and that staff should be given the support and autonomy to deliver an inspiring and enriching curriculum and maintain a healthy work life balance. 

Our Reception and Pre-Reception share a purpose built space which includes an outside teaching area. The Reception class also make use of the school garden which has been designed as an outdoor classroom and the school’s STEM room. Reception pupils are taught, PE, Music and Spanish by subject specialists and have a dedicated EYFS Level 3 practitioner. 

We are seeking a teacher with great interpersonal skills combined with the ability to motivate pupils, whilst retaining a sense of fun.  If you feel that you have the qualities we are looking for and you are determined to achieve the absolute best for the pupils that you teach, we would be delighted to hear from you.

About Lewes Old Grammar School

Lewes Old Grammar School is an independent, co-educational, all-through school in East Sussex. The historic town of Lewes has a population of 17,000 and is known for its annual bonfire festival. 

The school can trace its roots to an educational foundation started by Agnes Morley during the reign of Henry VIII. At its last inspection there were 509 pupils on the school roll, between the ages of 3 and 18.
