GORSE is an outstanding Multi-Academy Trust in Leeds, with over 6,000 students across its five secondary academies and sixth-form college. The Gorse Boat Club is open to all of its students.
The Trust is targeting success at National Schools and Henley Royal Regatta. Rowing is a priority sport at Gorse and this singular focus, coupled with the scale of our talent pool, makes this one of the most exciting programmes in junior rowing.
Programmes are now established in Elliott Hudson College and The Ruth Gorse Academy and we are expanding to our next two academies in September of this year. The final two schools will be joining the programme in 2019. Our secondary academies will run programmes up to J16 level, with the most capable athletes from each secondary school progressing to the performance squad in Elliott Hudson. All schools in the Trust have their own gym facilities and are no more than 20-minutes from the new £1.1 million Leeds Boat House, where the club’s on-water training takes place.
We now need to add to our coaching staff and are seeking to appoint a second fulltime rowing coach to begin this September 2018. This colleague will be responsible for two schools of their own, as well as working in collaboration with our existing coach. The right candidate will have experience of running a large and successful rowing programme at Junior or U23 level and will relish the challenge of building from the ground up.
