Salary: £21,000 - £24,000 per year, dependent on relevant experience

Full time - 40 weeks per year (term time plus 4 weeks), 12 weeks paid holidays

We are seeking to recruit a highly organised administrator to take the post of School Administrator. 

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • To support the Head Teacher and the senior leadership team with all aspects of school administration
  • To act as first point of contact for students, parents and staff
  • To provide an efficient front of house experience so that visitors, staff and students feel welcome in the school.
  • To complete student registers daily and on time. To find out the reason that any students are not in school 
  • To answer telephone calls and deal with matters arising.
  • To deal with the administration around school events 
  • Manage student files, both in hard copy, electronically on our school drive and on any data management systems the school uses.


In addition, we are looking for you to support in some of the following areas:

  • Attendance reporting and liaison with families and local authorities
  • Exams administration - providing administrative assistance during exams seasons
  • Admissions administration - supporting our admissions team
  • SENDCo administration - administrative support for our SENDCos  


The ideal candidate will be energetic and self-motivated, and will have excellent organisational and administrative skills. They will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate well to people on all levels. They will be confident and proficient in their use of IT. A First Aid at Work certificate would be an advantage. Most importantly, they will have real warmth and care for the pupils at our school. A flexible approach, a sense of humour, reliability, punctuality, stamina, resilience and the ability to work under pressure are essential.


The Holmewood School is a small, warm and friendly independent day school for neurodivergent children and young people aged from 7 to 19 who have a primary diagnosis of Autism. Our young people are broadly similar to their mainstream peers in their academic ability but require support with communication and interaction, executive functioning, anxiety, functional skills and other needs related to their diagnosis. Many of our young people also have a diagnosis of ADHD and/or dyslexia. 


We were awarded an Outstanding rating by Ofsted following their visit in May 2022 and we are proud to have Advanced Accreditation Status granted by the National Autistic Society.


We are located in North Finchley and Muswell Hill. Our Lower School in North Finchley is conveniently situated opposite Woodside Park station (on the Northern Line). Our Upper School is based at a lovely site in Muswell Hill. We are currently redeveloping a third site in Finchley Central which we hope to open in September 2023. You may be required to work at all sites.

The post is full-time, working hours are 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday..We will consider applications from candidates who are able to work a minimum of two full days per week. Please state your availability on the application form.
