We now have a fantastic opportunity for a School Administrator to join our close-knit team at Kestrel House School in London. Someone who takes a more creative approach supporting our teaching personal, would be perfect for this role.


About the School:

Kestrel House School is a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School. We help care for and support young people who have complex needs and specialise in the communication and learning challenges associated with Autism.

The Site is in London, Haringey Borough within Crouch End area, quite close to central London. The location has the advantage of easy access to public transport, having the overground station located 5 to 10 min walk away from the school and a 2 bus stops right outside of the school front gates.

The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each child’s potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide the young people with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment. This is achievable due to the dedication and support from a range of employed professionals who are passionate, reliable and understanding.

About the Role:

The School Administrator will engage with our students, teachers and support workers.  Being responsible for assisting, with day to day learning and social skills. The successful candidate will be required to work 8.15am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Kestrel House caters for children aged 5-16 and you will be enthusiastic, able to work effectively as part of a team and dedicated to making a difference to improving the lives of the young people that we support. Our aim is to change young people’s lives and through the use of accredited courses, we will always provide our pupils with the best possible opportunities to succeed, beyond Kestrel House. 


Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a School Administrator to work in developing the school as a high quality specialist provision for pupils with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties (SEMH) through providing the highest standards of pastoral care for all pupils of all abilities in a safe and orderly learning environment which provides a high standard of behaviour. 

No two days are the same at Kestrel House, so we want someone who can work at pace to turn ‘can’t do’ into ‘want to’ and is motivated by working with children with complex needs. You will be motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential.  The ideal candidate will enjoy working with children in a calm and engaging demeanour.

Whilst previous experience of working in a SEN environment would be desirable, excellent communication, interpersonal skills, the right kind of motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

 


General Responsibilities

  • Strategic Direction and Development of the School
  • Contribute to the life and community of the school in all of its aspects.
  • To work within the philosophy of the school at all times. 
  • Ensure all administrative tasks are completed on time.
  • To ensure that the school operates in an efficient manner.
  • To prioritise own workload in order to ensure the proficient operation of the school.
  • To work under the direction of the Head Teacher and in conjunction with the requirements of the Senior Team.
  • Staff Recruitment - placing adverts for vacancies, collating and forwarding Application Forms, preparing interview schedules, contacting prospective candidates with information, issuing contracts and offer letters in accordance with the school recruitment policies and procedures by liaising with HR.
  • To have professional integrity and discretion in relation to the overall function of the school, staff and pupil confidentiality.
  • To ensure all individual pupil files, staff files and records are kept up to date and maintained on a strictly confidential basis.  
  • To maintain individual contact with all parents, professionals and other parties on matters relating to school. 
  • To keep the Head Teacher and other relevant staff informed of any issues arising from the above 


Essential Criteria

  • GCSE’s in Maths and English, grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Basic computer literacy skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Flexible approach to working
  • Ability to build relationships with adults & young people
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Willing to undertake training
  • Ability to prioritise tasks

Start Date:

This position is due to commence as soon as possible, of course subject to approved reference and DBS checks.
