Ellern Mede School is a small ‘outstanding’ school in North London currently spread over two main sites. In the last three inspections the school has consecutively received an outstanding grade in every category of inspection. As a result of this record, the school proprietors have decided to open a stand-alone non-hospital provision catering for young people who suffer from SEMH, high functioning autism, anxiety, depression and school phobia.

This is a key role, responsible directly to the Head Teacher, in helping to plan for and implement the effective use of the school’s funding and to generate additional income all with the aim of ultimately improving students’ life chances and to deliver on our school priorities. 

As a result of our expansion onto a new site in Whetstone, North London, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to build, lead and manage the School’s Central Administration function and a team of estates and administration staff at our new provision. The Central Administration Team (CAT) provide a range of specific administrative responsibilities, as well as, finance, ICT, human resources, estates, health & safety, risk management and marketing

The successful candidate will be comfortable working collaboratively in a dynamic and vibrant recently refurbished environment and possess outstanding leadership, operational and administrative skills with a thorough working knowledge of MS Office, MIS systems (ideally ISAMS). 

They must be an excellent organiser, able to act on their own initiative to problem-solve and possess outstanding interpersonal skills. The post holder will have considerable knowledge of best practice within an administrative setting, have excellent time management skills and the resilience of managing a team across two sites. 


The ideal candidate will: 

• Be a financially astute leader with experience in an educational setting. 

• Have well developed strategic planning, procurement, project management, analytical and organisational skills. 

• Have a proven track record of managing Finance, HR and Estates 

• Be experienced in getting the best from teams, motivating others and planning for improvement.  


The role: 

• Responsible for the management of Finance, Administration, ICT, HR, Estates, Health & Safety and Risk Management. 

• Promote the highest standards and ensure the school makes best use of the resources available to support key objectives. 

• Uphold and promote the vision, values and ethos of the school, always acting with integrity. 


A calm approach, attention to detail, awareness of confidentiality and the ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure are essential, as is the ability to deal confidently with a wide range of people and situations.
