Job overview

We are looking to appoint a new member of staff to join our therapy team as a school counsellor. The purpose of the role is to provide specialist expertise in counselling to support students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, and other complex needs. The role is crucial in helping students manage their educational, vocational, and personal progress. The Counsellor is responsible for assessing individual student needs, collaborating with school leadership, managing caseloads, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to professional standards and regulatory guidelines.

The successful candidate will play a key role alongside the wider staff team, in providing holistic support for our students (as well as their families and carers). In addition to providing counselling support, you will participate and help supervise and engage pupils during social times, modelling positive relationships and helping to maintain our calm and nurturing environment.

This role will suit those looking to work a shorter day as our day is 9am-3pm, and the contact with children is only 9:30am-2:30pm.

The Southover Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share the same commitment. The post is subject to an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and a range of other recruitment checks.

PLEASE NOTE: We reserve the right depending on the number of applications received to shortlist and interview candidates prior to the closing date.
