Job overview

Cothill House is looking for a talented school day time cook to join our wonderful kitchen. Our busy team provides breakfast, lunch and supper for pupils and staff 7 days a week in term time (equivalent to 33 working weeks a year). This schedule allows for plenty of time off, ideal for those candidates who need some built in flexibility.  In a full boarding environment food is a key part of the day with pupils and staff always looking forward to the next meal, so our dining room is a focal point of the school. We are looking for someone creative and flexible, with a broad range of skills and a desire to keep pushing up standards.

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Proven experience of working as a chef using fresh ingredients and with excellent skills 
  • Excellent knowledge of Food Hygiene, Allergen and Health and Safety requirements and practises 
  • Ability to work with the school and respond to requests for hospitality 
  • Ability to supervise the team if required  
  • A friendly and polite manner with all pupils and staff 
  • Experience of working within schools preferred but not essential 
  • Self-motivated, using your own initiative, desire to learn and achieve. Ability to motivate others.
