The Gloucester Schools’ Partnership (GSP) is recruiting experienced School Improvement Advisors (SIAs) to drive its rigorous new School Improvement Programme.

This exciting opportunity is a pioneering step in primary school improvement in Gloucester City. Your role will be critical in delivering a more robust and challenging method of holding schools to account and ensuring continued school improvement.

With current, in-depth knowledge of the OfSTED inspection framework and practices, you will work with a cluster(s) of Headteachers to deliver evidence-based assessments of their schools’ performance and communicate clear and measurable strategies for implementing the required improvements to the relevant stakeholders, in order to raise standards and support preparations for inspections. In partnership with the GSP Strategy Group, you will provide clear needs analysis, strategic support and review; brokering the relevant support and resources for improvement.

The successful candidate will have recent experience of Primary Headship, experience of leading schools in challenging circumstances  and demonstrable experience of securing successful improvement.

Founded in 2008, the Gloucester Schools' Partnership (GSP) is an alliance of 39 Infant, Junior and Primary Schools in Gloucester.  The schools work collaboratively to raise the attainment, aspirations and life chances of all the children in the Partnership.

PURPOSE:

The Gloucester Schools’ Partnership (GSP) requires consultant School Improvement Advisors as part of its new School Improvement Programme, which will include a systematic framework of objective performance measurement, needs analysis and strategic support and review.

Each School Improvement Advisor will be responsible for working with an allocated cluster of GSP Infant, Junior and/or Primary schools to ensure effective management for continued school improvement; including compliance with OfSTED and DfE.

This GSP programme will be delivered through evidence-based assessment, robust challenge and quality assurance of systems and processes; all supported by sound, constructive advice and brokered support.

Where applicants have the capacity to do so, they may assume the role of SIA for more than one cluster.

Main roles and accountabilities of SIAs:

• Work with the GSP Strategy Group to agree the methodology and processes that will underpin the School Improvement Programme;

• Work with the Headteachers of GSP Schools within the allocated cluster to agree the current performance of the school, precisely agreeing priorities for improvement;

• Provide appropriate challenge and support for Headteachers, Teachers and Governors;

• Analyse and provide an objective review of the performance data of the schools, benchmarking against both national and relevant local performance information;

• Liaise with the GSP Strategy Group to broker training, support and collaborative working to expedite the improvements identified;

• Support and work towards the aim that all schools are judged to be at least Good in OfSTED;

• Use detailed knowledge of the inspection framework and practices, to improve the standards in schools and support preparations for OfSTED inspections;

• Identify areas of achievement and best practice within the cluster that can be shared, while still respecting each school’s personality and individuality.

Founded in 2008, the Gloucester Schools' Partnership (GSP) is an alliance of 39 Infant, Junior and Primary Schools in Gloucester.  The schools work collaboratively to raise the attainment, aspirations and life chances of all the children in the Partnership.

The GSP is piloted by its Strategy Group, which is made up of Steering Groups, focusing on aspects such as events, CPD, inclusion, school-to-school support and teacher training. Sharing knowledge, best practice and next practice within the Partnership helps its schools to maintain a consistently high quality teaching provision; as well as giving access to a calendar of inspiring and memorable opportunities for pupils, which might otherwise be logistically and/or financially unsustainable by a single school.

The Partnership also continues to focus on the well-being, personal development and progression of staff in all its member schools, by providing quality CPD throughout their teaching careers and by providing valuable peer-to-peer networks, so that teachers – from every size of school – feel part of a bigger community.
