Mary MacKillop Catholic College is a rapidly growing school in one of the fastest expanding regions in Australia. The college has grown from a greenfield site in January 2003 to having its first cohort of Year 12 students in 2020. With a vibrant and expanding state of the art primary and secondary facilities, the college is an exciting and rewarding place for staff, students and their families.

As the School Officer: Assisting Student Learning you will provide Auslan sign language and interpreting according to the needs of a student with profound hearing loss. You will also provide support to the classroom, school, and community to ensure high quality learning programs are provided in an inclusive learning environment.

Applicants for these positions must demonstrate proficiency in the production of Auslan as determined by the Office or hold current National Accreditation Authority for translators and interpreters Ltd (NAATI) Certification.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements:

  • Well developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, liaise with parents, teachers and community members and where necessary assist teachers in understanding students.
  • Well developed organisational skills, including the ability to contribute to a professional team and deliver an effective education program.
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues relevant to deaf or hard of hearing students.
