Mary MacKillop Catholic College is a rapidly growing school in one of the fastest expanding regions in Australia. The college has grown from a greenfield site in January 2003 to having its first cohort of Year 12 students in 2020. With a vibrant and expanding state of the art primary and secondary facilities, the college is an exciting and rewarding place for staff, students, and their families.

The School Officer: Student Welfare Worker provides social, emotional, and spiritual support to students, parents, and/or staff within Mary MacKillop Catholic College. The role assists in meeting the needs of students, families, and staff in ways that enhance the wellbeing and development of the school community. The School Officer: Student Welfare Worker works closely with those in key roles of pastoral care and learning support, teachers, and the College Leadership Team.

Your responsibilities will include

  • assisting students to develop knowledge, understanding, skills that support learning, positive behaviour, and constructive social relationships through social skills programs.
  • providing additional support to the school's care, guidance and support of students with spiritual and or religious needs.
  • acting as a role model for students.
  • assisting in further developing links between the school and community, working with the school support staff, community youth organisations and networks to support students.
  • providing support in classroom activities, under the direction of the Assistant Principal Religious Education and classroom teachers, where involvement provides further social, emotional or spiritual support for students who may be at risk of disengagement.
  • participating in general school activities including, but not limited to, camps, excursions, sports days, or coaching a sports team.
  • maintaining an image representative of the school as a professional and pastoral organisation both in presentation and communication.

Candidates with proven experience working in student welfare programs will be highly regarded.
