We are seeking a suitable person to fill the role of School Officer / Indigenous Student Support (Level 3 School Officer). 

The successful applicant will support all students with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, either in groups or individually.  

The role holder will have well developed interpersonal skills and may at times deal with issues of a confidential and sensitive nature requiring a high degree of judgement, discretion, and confidentiality.

You will bring to the role:

  • Demonstrated qualifications and experience as a teacher aide/school officer,
  • Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and spiritualities and students, families and communities,
  • Commitment and enthusiasm to engage with all students in the College,
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills,
  • Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness for all students with particular reference to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students,
  • Liaise with the Principal and school staff on protocols for interacting with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in relation to staff, students and educational activities, and
  • Operate as a member of a broader school support team and contribute to team meetings and broader school activities.


To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:

  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.

Total Paid Hours (per week) & days required: 12 hours per week

Salary level, range or hourly rate: School Officer Level 3 - $30.97 per hour

Employment conditions: Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement
